Privacy policy

This English version is provided for convenience. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.

1. Data controller

The controller of personal data is NOVAZEO, registered office at 21, Avenue Lamine Guèye, Dakar, Republic of Senegal, registered with the trade register under number SN-DKR 2026-A-2821, represented by Mr Mathieu Potiron. Contact: reservation@location-senegal.com.

Processing is carried out in accordance with Law No. 2008-12 of 25 January 2008 on the protection of personal data in Senegal.

2. Data collected

We collect only the data we need:

• Through the listing form: type of property, name of the establishment, town and neighbourhood, links to existing listings, number of rooms and capacity, first name, surname, telephone / WhatsApp, e-mail, capacity in which you act (owner, manager, agency) and, optionally, net rate and resident rate.
• Through browsing: usual technical data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed), audience measurement and advertising cookies (see section 8).

3. Purposes and legal bases

• Handling your listing request and getting back to you — basis: your consent and the performance of pre-contractual steps.
• Managing the partnership and publishing your listing — basis: performance of the contract.
• Improving and securing the site, producing audience statistics — basis: legitimate interest.
• Measuring how effective our advertising is on Facebook and Instagram and showing it to people who have visited the site — basis: legitimate interest, with the possibility of refusing at any time (section 8).

Your contact details are used only to handle your request and the partnership. They are neither transferred nor sold to third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Accommodation and car bookings

The sites logement.location-senegal.com and voiture.location-senegal.com let you book accommodation or a vehicle offered by an owner or a rental company. For both accommodation and cars, Location Sénégal provides an introduction service and is not a party to the rental contract concluded with the owner or rental company, in accordance with each site’s terms and conditions.

Data requested when you book

• Car: first name, surname, e-mail address, WhatsApp number, date of birth, country of residence, driving licence number and expiry date; optionally, town, flight number and details for the owner.
• Accommodation: surname, first name and e-mail address; optionally, telephone, postal address, country and message.
• Resident rate: verified resident status is established once, on proof of address less than three months old and after a verification call; it gives rise to a personal code.

Payment: online payment is made by bank card through Stripe, our payment provider. Card numbers are entered on Stripe’s side: they are neither received nor stored by our sites. Only the introduction fee is paid online; the balance of the stay or rental, and the security deposit if there is one, are settled directly with the owner or rental company.

Purposes and legal bases

• Handling your booking, checking availability, collecting the introduction fee and putting you in touch with the owner or rental company — basis: performance of the contract.
• Checking that the driver meets the rental conditions (age, valid licence) — basis: performance of the contract.
• Establishing your resident status, at your request — basis: performance of the contract.
• Issuing and keeping invoices — basis: legal obligation.

Who receives this data

• The owner or rental company of the booked property: once the booking is confirmed, they receive your contact details and the information needed for handover, and you receive theirs.
• Stripe, for payment.
• WhatsApp: we write to you on WhatsApp to follow up your booking and, for cars, to send you the dated condition report of the vehicle; these exchanges go through Meta’s services.
• If you book accommodation through a partner platform, that platform passes us the data needed for the booking.

Retention periods: booking and account data, three years from the last contact; invoicing data, ten years; proof of address, for the duration of the verification; listing photographs and dated vehicle condition reports, three years.

5. Recipients

The data is intended for the authorised teams of Location Sénégal (NOVAZEO). It may be processed by our technical providers (host, messaging and form tools) acting on our instructions, limited to what is necessary to provide the service.

6. Retention periods

Data relating to a request that does not go further is kept for a maximum of three (3) years from the last contact. Data relating to an active partnership is kept for the duration of the relationship, then archived in accordance with the applicable legal and accounting obligations. The periods specific to bookings are set out in section 4.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and restrict the processing of your data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time. These rights are exercised by e-mail to reservation@location-senegal.com, with proof of your identity.

8. Cookies

The three Location Sénégal sites — the portal, accommodation and car rental — set four families of cookies:

• Necessary cookies: they make the site work (session, language, currency, account, booking in progress) and are set without prior agreement.
• Audience measurement — Google Analytics 4 (identifier G-F9GZFW0ECY): cookies _ga and _ga_F9GZFW0ECY, kept for two years, which count visits and pages read without naming you. Measurement is shared across the three sites, so that moving from one to another is not counted twice. The data is processed by Google Ireland Limited.
• Form protection — Google reCAPTCHA: cookie _GRECAPTCHA, kept for six months, set on pages carrying a form in order to tell a human submission from an automated one. It analyses your behaviour on those pages and sends Google Ireland Limited technical data (IP address, browser, device, actions on the page). It is not used for audience measurement, for advertising, or to identify you.
• Advertising — Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram, identifier 2004444360211637): cookie _fbp, kept for three months, which measures how effective our advertising is and makes it possible to show it to people who have visited the site. The data is processed by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.

In line with the Senegalese framework, audience measurement and the advertising pixel are active as soon as you arrive; a banner tells you so. You can refuse them at any time, from that banner or the “Manage my cookies” link in the footer: refusal stops them being set, deletes those already set, and applies to all three sites. These tools may involve a transfer of data outside Senegal. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies or to warn you when they are set.

Form protection falls outside this refusal: it is necessary for the service you are requesting. Without it, our forms would be open to automated submissions and genuine enquiries could no longer be handled. How Google uses this data is described in its privacy policy and its terms of service.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures (restricted access, secure connections) to protect your data against loss, unauthorised access or disclosure.

The site’s forms are also protected against automated submissions (see section 8).

10. Hosting and transfers

The site and the associated data are hosted by OVH SAS (Roubaix, France). A transfer of data outside Senegal may therefore take place as part of this hosting, with a provider offering appropriate security safeguards.
